After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Weber Baby Q

edited December 2014 in Off-topic
Bought a Weber BabyQ about a fortnight ago, resisted up to now, however have heard great reports about these things and was sick of messing around with charcoal, heat beads etc.

What a great little unit, heats up fast, great for BBQ'ing and roasting, imparts a nice smoky flavour, most importantly easy to use and clean.

  • I can confirm that, I also have its bigger  (middle) brother. Once you've got your times right, the meat comes out perfect every time! JL
  • Morning Janlab, Thanks for the reply, I resisted the Weber phenomena up to this point, always thought they were bulky and lots of stuffing around, heat beads etc, heard good reports re the Q range, then used one at a friends home a while back and was very impressed, as they say the rest is history. No I don't have shares in Weber Aust. :)
  • Thanks for posting. Been on the hunt for a gas bbq. Currently using the standard Webber and a Son Of Hibachi. Although the Son of Hibachi is ready in 10 minutes it would be nice just to light and go.... and no mess. Might have to get me one.

I believe they are on special at the moment, will probably be good deals available in post Christmas sales as well :)
  • I have a stainless steel bbq with a rotisserie and a lid... If you don't mind me asking...What am I gaining by adding a Webber??

I have no idea Brett, I'm not suggesting Webber is the ultimate BBQ, the post was simply relating my positive experience, thought it may benefit those who might be considering buying one. :)

The webber is smaller, more portable, easier to clean IMO.  I have the same 4 burner BBQ for the past 10 years.  When it dies I'll buy a webber (or similar) to replace it,  but for the use it gets, it's not worth it.  The wood fired oven is way more fun! :)
  • I love the look of a Weber.... I reckon that too will be our eventual succor to the behemoth!

You forgot that it only uses a tiny amount of gas compared to the average gas bbq.
  • I hadn't actually thought of that.  I think a frog lives in my BBQ.  I used it... ummmm last year some time! lol.  There is a different technique to roasting on these though.  with a big BBQ you cook with the top up, but with a webber you keep the heat in by putting the top down.
  • A Cyprus grill is my BBQ of choice And I also like my Comado KK
  • I use the rotisserie in my BBQ with the lid down.  Last night was a rolled pork roast with amazing crackling.  The wok burner means
