After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

  • It seems they are well behind schedule with some basic issues to resolve, and not one prototype m/c to shout about. This latest issue with the thermoblock material is laughable. My impression is this is a bunch of tech geeks trying to find a trendy application for their electronic toys. ::) http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/zpmespresso/pid-controlled-espresso-machine/posts
  • Yeah laughable is right, they shouldnt have designed their parts to the bare minimum allowable thickness and expect perfection, even a german manufacturer wouldnt get every part 100% perfect. I was tempted by their kickstarter but when it closed I had already been waiting 6 months past scheduled delivery for another gadget from there, and that project actually had a working prototype during their funding, still waiting after another 9 months, also problems with the circuit boards
  • Someone should get this  thread added to the list of forum threads on the zpmespresso website. Not sure if I have an ID on their forum or not, will check my keepass records when I am at home as I can't find a login
  • something reminded me that I havent heard ANYTHING about this product in a while. Took a look at zpmespresso.com and sure enough - still not manufactured anything. I am now extremely glad I didn't waste my money on this.  A bit of web  research shows they are still working on it. Fingers crossed for those brave souls who sent in their cash 18 months ago that they actually get one this year (and that it makes decent espresso).

I know people who spend more than that on sky-diving... Where ya sense of adventure??
  • When they spend that on sky diving, presumably they actually get to GO skydiving, rather than pay for the promise of skydiving in a few months and still not get the experience over a  year later... The impression I get is that, rather than being accomplished con men, the people behind this are just not very capable at the actual delivery of what they promised. Let's not forget, they still haven't got a 220v version.
  • Maybe a 220v version is 2021.  I think with these type of projects if you commit $$$ you have to look at it like gambling.  You could lose it all or win a prize. lol
