After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Hi Everyone,

My dad and I are Coffee FANATICS and he has just designed a coffee tamper and stand. Let me know what you think of it.

    Hi Nicole and welcome to the forum Excellent work - love the combo! Can we see some pics with the wooden handles on the tampers? What sort of prices are you looking at? any discount for wholesale clients? And can the tamper stand be sold separately? Cheers, ACg

    Hi ACg The tampers start at $60 for allimunium and $70 for stainless steel, and the stands are $70- we will consider wholesale prices. Wooden handle tampers, my dad will be making this weekend~ Very exciting. Will keep you posted. Thanks for the compliment. Nicole

    If I did not look at the business name I could be easily looking at a Pullman tamper Andreas I had one of those before upgrading to the Barista model KK

    Well of course I think the tamper's a great design! As I should, considering the base is identical to my Deluxe tamper, and it curiously employs the same unique combination of features which I engineered - 316 steel, acetal handles and custom-machining. I don't think I need to add anything else as I think most people here recognise the design for what it is. Not sure how all that's "a good thing" askthecoffeeguy, but I guess this is a forum of free speech. The stand, on the other hand - great work, a very nice looking product. Tamper stands inherently bear a number of similarities to each other but yours certainly has its own unique qualities to it and has obviously been well implemented. Good job. Greg

    Hey Greg, I looked up the Fly Fishing fan club associated with the creator of these products and it looks like a lot of fun - which can only be a good thing! As far as originality of design goes I'm not qualified to answer there - my main concern would be the carbon footprint and how far the product has to travel to reach Australia - and certainly there is a need to support local industry such as your goodly self as well!     I shouldent say this, but its a personal preference having used both the Deluxe & the Barista Pullman Pampers I favour the new Barista design KK

    One could say you get pampered by a tool of exquisite beauty, but we still prefer to call them tampers!  ;D Yeah I generally prefer the Barista too KK, though having both on the shelf the Deluxe is a pleasant change when I use it. It's a personal thing though which is why I never say one is better than the other; different products for different people and different environments. Back on topic, I should mention I had a pleasant reply to my email to the gentleman whose product is mentioned at the start of this thread. He indicated he hadn't been aware of my product and his explanation of how his design came about was fairly similar to the reasons I chose for mine. I'm happy to take him at his word so it would appear he hasn't copied my design but has coincidentally managed to come up with several features the same as mine. We're discussing the best way forward so no-one is disadvantaged from this. A good result so far anyway, much better than unpleasant exchanges of emails. Greg

    I do really think the design of tamper is excellent. And agree KK--used both the Deluxe & the Barista Pullman Pampers.
