After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Hi I'm new here

Hi All, thanks for the add.

I am a 33 year old living on Westwrn Australia. After a long time my journey from Nescafe blend 43, to pod machines, to stove tops I have now reached my destination. Well nearly. My wife and I have decided that our Christmas presents to each other will be a grinder and an espresso machine. We are thinking that we will spend around $1000 all up. Doing my research it seems that the cost should be around 50/50. I didn't realise the impact that the grinder had on the coffee until researching but now it seems so obvious.

So far I have been spending time researching grinders and there a couple that seem to come up everywhere
1.Breville BCG820BSSXL Pro
2.The Baratza range
3.The Rancilio Rocky range

I like the idea of the removable hopper of the Breville and the reviews say it is a good buy food r the money. Having said that the reviews seem to say the Rocky's give a finer grind. I'm usually an espresso drinker and my wife is more flat white so I don't know if that should lean me towards one more than the others?

I hope this isn't a how long is a piece of string question. Like I said I am new the world home brewing.

Thanks a bunch
