After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Newb in Trouble. Saeco Incanto Deluxe.

edited November 2006 in Espresso Machines
Hi all,

Just went out and purchased my first coffee machine. After reading lots of reviews and looking at budgets etc, I had decided on a Sunbeam EM6910 & Grinder. However whel I went to the 'shop' I got a demonstration on the unit and was impressed but was also demonstrated a Saeco Incanto deluxe.

I had a good hard think about my coffee requirements and decided that what I want in coffee is not to master the art of making it, I just want to be able to make a decent quality coffee at home (and to show off a littel ;)). Realistically The Saeco was a better machine for my use. The fact that it was on special and less than $200 difference than the Sunbeam combo helped!

So - I got it home and set up was simple and easy, the first couple of shots went down the sink and then I started tasting - very happy with the result given the fact that I have absolutely no clue what I am doing.

  • At the very least you should still be covered by the warrantee, and the Saeco web site should be able to provide you with the details of your nearest certified repairer. But given that the machine is new, if its not working to specifications, take it back to the place of purchase, and either demand a refund, a new machine, or a store credit, and put the money towards something else! In the meantime, try turning the unit off, and going through the manual in a step by step process (you may also want to have a look at the trouble shooting section) and see if you can get the thing to work. If the machine is half decent, you ought to be able to make mistakes on it, without blowing the thing up!  ANd the learn from your mistakes! That's how we all do it!  (or at least, that's how I tend to learn) Good luck Patrick
  • Hi Steve - i agree with ACG; i wouldn't be too worried. I'm no legal expert, but i'm pretty sure that at the very least, when a machine is under warranty, the retailer has and obligation to replace it for you if they can't fix it. -dR
  • Thanks guys, Problem resolved. Looks like I confused the po0or thing last night. I had set it to turn itself on at 6:00am and off at 10:00pm. Then I deceded that that was not suitable so last night I changed it to turn on at six and off at seven am (forthe morning coffee). Given that I did this at seven PM it must have confused the poor thing however I managed to leave it in stanfdby mode overnight and ths morning at six it must have woken up and sorted itself out (I was already out) So - I did miss my morning coffee, but I do have a latte beside me right now and I can't say I am unhappy anymore! Thanks for your comments! Cheers Steve.
  • Funny Story...where is the old manual machine...simple...working every time???
