After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
Solis Maestro Grinder - Kaput
Was grinding away with the Solis Grinder in the weekend and decided that I needed to adjust the grind to make it finer. The adjustment mechanism (rotation of the beans dish), appeared to be stuck in position and wouldn't budge either way. As per the instruction guide, I ensured that the motor was running (beans in the holder) and attempted to perform the exercise again. It did eventually move, but it seems that the plastic upright "tabs" that cause the grinder mechanism to rotate with the beans holder have broken off. The result....no further adjustment possible.
I find this a little disappointing considering this is not one of those "cheap and nasty" grinders we are advised to avoid, and I've only had it since October. >:( I guess I'll now have to follow up through the warranty process and hope that the manufacturer doesn't try to tell me that it is due to misuse. I would expect that if it is used in the manner described in the manual, then any breakages should be covered under the warranty.
For now, I'm drinking coffee that is about as runny as a glass of Coke.
