After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

  • Best description of their steaming system, provided it is the same system in the older flymax units I worked on, is that its a heat exchanger. Essentially it is a block of aluminium with an element embedded in it.  The block of ally is heated to something like 120deg and maintained there.   The water for the unit is heated in a miniature boiler (previously something like 300-400ml) with an 1800W element, so it heats fairly quickly.  This water is then used both as water, or if the steam is being used this water (@95-98deg) is directed to the heat exchanger which quickly turns the water to steam and due to the thermal mass of the ally block and the 1200W element it should be able to maintain it fairly well. At least thats on the units I worked on some 2-3 years ago, technology may have changed in that time.
