After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Silvia Demonstrations or Training

edited January 1970 in Espresso Machines
Anyone know where I can get a non-biased demonstration of Silvia or is anyone here willing to show me what's going on... perhaps even someone knows of a training course that use Silvia as the training machines????

Basically I'd just like to know whether or not what I am doing with my machine is correct.. I am worried that I'm not producing the best shots I can.  I plan on going back to my retailer for a demonstration but thought I ask here first.

Thanks in advance!

  • Paulie, I did a one-day course with Lavazza (Sydney) about 6 months ago where I was able to take my Silvia in and have the course manager have a go give me some tips on the machine. It was a home-espresso course or something along those lines and I'm not sure if they still run it. However there may be other companies that run similar classes where users can take their own machines in. They weren't experts on the Silvia but the shots being poured showed me that it can be done! I found it helpful, mainly from the frothing point of view. Cheers, Matt
  • If Your ever in Newcastle go to Austens coffee wholesaler at Hamilton, I think the Silvia is the only domestic machine they stock , I was talking to a salesman on the phone and from memory I think there barista training was $55 an hour.
