After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
Hi All.
I recently purchased an ECM Giotto. Prior to that I had a Faema Family, and for a short time , a San Marino Lisa (you may remember my post about it). The Lisa was a fully commercial machine.
I am trying to find out how many grams of coffee are required to make the perfect single shot and it seems it varies from machine to machine. The Lisa had a very small single pf basket compared to the Faema and the Giotto which seem similar in size. I have read articles on coffeesnobs and coffeeeeks about people using up to 17 grams to make a single 'god shot'.
So what is the answer ? I guess it depends on the machine, beans, grind etc. I can imagine in a cafe that using as little as possible is important, but at home on the Giotto, I am not too fussed.
Thanks,
Frank.
