Describe your perfect cup of coffee

edited March 2013 in Have your say
hi all. not sure if this has been asked or posted before but it didn't turn up on my search.

i know this question can be subjective to personal taste but how do you describe the most perfect cup of coffee you've had?

for me its silky smooth on the pallet with a bold body but perfectly balanced flavors with out major spikes in acidity, bitterness and a pleasant lingering fragrance that's not over bearing. the after taste had a bright sweet berry flavor lingering on the pallet and the fragrance of the aroma will keep coming back on the back of throat long after you had the coffee.

correct me if i'm wrong, i think overly acidic /bitter coffee taste like crap and not grind/brewed properly. had one of the most acidic short blacks in my life at st ali's, suppose to be one of the top coffee shops in melbourne the other day, its like they added vinegar with lemon which rocked my perspective on what good coffee suppose to be like.

  • I like the sound of your first cup! I like a long fruity finish.
  • any idea where i can get a cup of perfectly balanced coffee around melbourne? requires my gf 40mins and half a bag of beans to fine tune the robur for it. would rather just buy it from a shop lol so far the coffee shops around where i live (port Melbourne) has all failed even the top rated St Ali (overly sour, house blend, coffee of the day) and Dead man (burnt bitter, sevenseed, marketlane). going to dukes and proud marry this weekend hope their barista's arnt lazy to tune their grinders or tamper it too tight.

Try Flavor 7 - Docklands, Shop 11, Cnr Waterview Walk and Batman Hill Drive. Weekdays only. 7x Roburs, pimped LM. Make sure you introduce yourself to Abdul (who without doubt pulling some of the best shots in Melb at the moment -  shame he did'nt want to compete). Lots of nice SO's on offer. Describe what you want to Abdul and he will make you something special.
  • sound good  :thumb: thanks for the tip. will prob go there tomorrow :) i think no matter how good the equipment or how well the beans are roasted if the barista fails or arnt sensitive to taste/smell there is no saving the shot. just like a good glass of wine/tea you dont add sugar/milk  to be able to drink it lol
