After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

A few pics from Straddy

edited March 2013 in Off-topic
Thought I better whack up a few snaps from Straddy. Sun was rare, 3 days out of 14. Still, beats Brisbane.

The view from the house, around North Gorge, Looking south down Main Beach, view from the Pub Carpark at Cylinder Beach

  • A few more. Mad bats, dogs shagged after a run on the beach
  • And a few more. We had 6 of these fellas around the house. The same 6 as the last 2 years, On the beach @ Flinders, My style of house.
  • Definitely Brisbanes best/worst kept secret... Straddie is 'GOLD' In years past I've been lucky enough to do a few Reno's in the highrise units on Cylinder Beach... Each morning you wake up, You're at work but you feel like you must have died and gone to Heaven....
  • The price of the barge is the best thing to keep the ferals away, mostly anyway. Some of them carpool though  Its definitely a tradies paradise if you can get work there. Get up and have a surf, have smoko and surf, early knock and have a surf and if its pumpin', have a surf and work tomorrow, maybe. When the surf is flat the euro tourist chicks are rather easy on the eye
  • Looks like you had a great time On that note - ? I don't think I have ever been to Stradbroke Island I once went to Coochi Mudlo Island on a Boxing Day picnic KK
  • Oh KK ! really ? Actually, is doesn't surprise me. The majority of Brisso's have never been and hardly any Brisso's have been to Moreton Coochie is a festering turd by comparison

And that's what it looked like when I visited as its shite at low tide
  • KK, If you haven't been to Straddie you gotta do it! There's all manner of accommodation or you can 'day trip it' but that makes for a pretty busy hectic day and Straddie runs at a different pace- Island time- so it's best to marinate and soak it up rather than a fly-by visit. Many great spots are accessible by car but a fourbie opens a whole other dimension... Yeah you gotta do it, you'll be so glad you did... One of those spots you will return to whenever possible...

Ssssssshhhhhhhhhh  , someone might hear you
  • Wow AM, I had no idea. Fortunately (or not), most of the islands tracks are closed now. Most have filthy big gates across them and "Yarraman Mine, No Access, Keep out" signs plastered everywhere so we just stick to the beaches. We went down to main one arvo and watched 3 guys drag about 50 big mullet from a gutter right at their feet using nothing but jag hooks. The entire gutter was just black with mullet. The missus got a bit shitty until I pointed that that this was far better than the pro's running a net around 3000 fish. She agreed. Guess what was on special at the bowls club the following evening
  • That's it then I won't be going there on holiday Bloody radiation KK
  • You aint got a 4b anyway KK so you're stuck on the bitumen. To be fair AM, the guys were using big metal slugs with monster trebles  so for all intensive purposes they were spinning for tailor  but in reality.......
