After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Daylight Magnifying Lamp - Not working..

edited January 1970 in Off-topic
As some may be aware my Daylight Magnifying Lamp - WAS Not working and getting parts was and has been a right pain.....

Wanted to stay org and as this one was bought for  > $320 it was not a toss away.

Problem: Getting old and a non working Magnifying Lamp has meant I have a backlog of  some smaller jobs in the electronics area and a phone or two to finish.

Spent some time TS and changes a number of components with no real outcome other than a suss transformer and that not a standard spare and then took the right approach..

BUNNINGS  :thumb:  8)

Went and got a 28W fluro tube type lamp for $5.65 and got it home and broke it up  :thumb:

Note: The glass is very fine and teh fumes are not good for teh brain..  But had to take a sniff for good measure  >:D

The driving cct is as good as 100% compatible in design but a tad different in size.

Long story short; 20min after getting home my LAMP is working... Best $5 and trip to bunnings ever, regardless of the lack of eye candy..

Moral: More than one way to skin a cat; if you look out side the cube and take advantage of the consumable society.
