After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

    Amongst other nice things (especially the ultra light using parachute wing aka powered parachutes) there were some very nice, local Mustangs of varying models, at the "Big Boys Toys" exhibition in my local area on the weekend. Also other nice cars incl an A9X Torana, and some nice 30's 40's cars beautifully restored.....I had not taken the camera, and the phone really doesnt cut it.

    2016 mustang is on my list. For now this bad boy gets out when the weather in nice. Pic was taken at a car show I organised for cause I called "Westside cars for a cause". We raised $8k for the Miracle Babies Foundation. It was held this time last year at Masters Burnside VIC. My wife drove the Lockwood racing car pictured. She works for ASSA ABLOY.

    The photo with old clinker in foreground...awesome! Previous photos of tamper/ grouphandle/ and coffee beans, and the coffee den / also Re: The previous photos of mustang at bunnings exhibition....I love the look of XY GT's (my neighbour lucky so and so has one) but behind the mustang, the falcon kind of looks "quaint" and the mustang steals the show (for me anyway). You can see the design relationship, but there is no disputing the king of classic motor vehicle design after which almost anything pales into insignificance. Ford must realise this big time or they wouldnt still be pussy footing around the same classic design, as seen in nearly all subsequent mustang models and the nice modern yellow one in KK's photos. Nice.

    thanks FC. I agree regarding the mustang (biased) and the XY and XW. the red XY is a clone GT and the XW is an original 4 speed GT. They are part of my car club that I founded in 2013. Since then I've taken a back seat role and left the management to others. If anyone wants to know where the old boat  is located please click here.     With regards to showroom condition presentation of cars A absolutely hate shiny tyres - it detracts from the overall look and the tyre shine is terrible stuff Bring back tyre black - a matt / satin look and fully dry What say you

    I agree KK. What I use is my leather protector applied with a sponge on my tyres. Then I buff dry with a cloth. Leaves my tyres looking black and clean but not overly shiny.

    I have 2 straps One is the camera makers and the other is a hand made strap Both with a band of approx 40mm to 50mm wide KK

    ive seen those FC but they are out of stock at present. The name suggests that as it uses the dedicated strap mounts instead of the tripod mount like slings do that have the camera hang upside down. I guess it's an industry disgrace. [emoji6] I've been eyeing off the Joby Pro Sling that uses the cameras tripod mount but has a tether as a fail safe in the unlikely event I forget to tighten the mount on the camera and it comes undone. http://joby.com/camera-straps/pro-sling-strap Edit: i just bought one so ill post some pics/reviews once it comes in...

    i didn't think twice about the Nikon strap that came with the camera til yesterday. I was out for a few hours in the bay shooting and it took a toll on my neck.

    So my Joby Pro Sling came in today and I'm liking it a lot. Adjustability, locking mechanism, the materials used, and the added tether for security makes it a well rounded product.

    So far so good. I've used a sling before on my eos300d. This one is not a sling per se but functionality is the same. The beauty of it is the mount itself doesn't let the camera sway like a normal sling does. I'll field test it tomorrow. I've got a few hours off husband duties and the weather looks good too. I also just purchased a cheap FOTGA variable ND fader that's made with optical glass. If it's crap ill bin it and get a Hoya.

    Errrhhh. Not really on topic but following on from above re straps. You will have to forgive canon camera name in photos, the bag will accept nikon as well :stir Just thought to mention that sometimes its not a great idea to lug the dedicated gear bag around and when o/s there areas where it is inappropriate to show your (large) gear as in have it dangling from your person. So I often leave real gear bag in hotel and only take the set I think I will want on the day. I bought this bag at a market stall, big and sturdy enough for camera and lens, spare battery and other odd bits. It will handle the weight of the full frame and zoom lens. When walking through areas where you want it safely tucked away out of sight it seems to work fine, and you can quickly pull it out when you want it. Not ideal, but not bad for the purpose, and works for me.

    Gee that's beautiful!  So bespoke and classy!  I've a handful of camera bags including an aluminium case of various sizes but I think I need to keep an eye out for one of those!

    Very nice FC. Beats my regular backpack sling. It's just big enough to fit my camera with a zoom, my prime, a few filters, and some odd bits. It does have a rain cover too.

    Re camera bags My bag is over 30 years old and I still haven't needed to change it because the design is just right And I have looked to upgrade it from time to time but unless the replacement is better I won't change it KK

    [ftp][/ftp]I've had my Nikkor 50mm 1.4D for many years now but on my latest 24 and 37 mpx Nikons it's not as sharp as it was.  Having looked at the Sigma Art I'm leaning towards the 1.4G Nikkor but the reviews are mixed.  I'm certainly not going to but a Distagon so I can manually focus for $3000 but I'm in a bit of a bind.  I've got the new 24-120F4 and its boring.  Picture perfect boring.  Do I take a minimal optical upgrade on the 50mm or is there a better option?
