john_2 P I have no probs about the twist'n'turn'n bit, but the topic then becomes irrelevant for anybody checking out the topics in the forum. I have skipped opening up some topics as the title was of no interest to me. Now it seems I have to read every topic just in case I have missed out on something. I also agree with Fresh, that this new discussion has much more merit than the original topic which was something about an ego trip or prima donna or.....Maybe we can continue with the topic under a different heading. admin Actually, I prefer the 'twists & turns' along the way, but John's got a point - we've got a thread about the coffee industry (and its politics) which he has kindly resurrected, so we might as well use it - see 'Fragmented coffee industry' thread! -A
over_extracted Talking about op baristas lets all of us get together and support maiko la penna as he is now in italy representing australia in the wbc.good luck maiko all the best .OE

Spjarli_Coffee Here are the top 6 placings from the WBC held over the weekend. Results at http://www.worldbaristachampionship.com/ I could not find any news on Maico's performance. Interesting that all these places, with the exception perhaps of Lebanon, are cold climate countries. ;D 1st: Tim Wendelboe, Norway (662 p.) 2nd: Salvatore Piccolo, Canada (656 p.) 3rd: Klaus Thomsen, Denmark (655 p.) 4th: Nj
admin Hi Spjarli - thanks for this - have had it confirmed from a second source that Maico came seventh. ciao -A PS Spjarli - seem to remember you were from Melbourne - do you have any names you could add to the list, in terms of top Melbourne baristas (see starting post of this thread).
over_extracted How about some girls barista there is one that used to work at campos ,she was very good.
gy831 the competition barista standard has never been so good, there are some real contenders for not only the australian title but also the world title. Sydney baristas are very strong as are adeliade and melbourne guys. I have no doubt that the top three at this years aasca comp have a real shot of top six in the wbc. Australia is quite lucky really, top have such a concentration of quality guys behind machines will mean that customers and retailers will be forced to take notice and we can then start really rolling in the right direction and become the envy of the espresso world. dreaming... NO WAY!!!
