Lacehim I wasnt that organised, and thought I might get wotb! No, not a bad thing mate but it would have been great to get some feedback in my syphon roasts which just don't seem to work for me. Anyway hopefully I'll roast in a few days when I feel better, and 200 zip bag arrive! Hehe I guess I will just roast and post but put a suggested consume date on.
UNM I plan on letting my swap buddy work out when he or she wants to use the beans. I will supply some basic information and just take what feedback comes my way. Maybe my buddy can learn a thing or two about how good a hottop can be for home roasting rather than one of those lesser home roasting setups :stir :stir
derrilex Well you would have plenty of roasts to practice on the HT's lack of capacity :stir :stir
shape_shifter I still have a roast to go, just a SO I hope they haven't had before, my blend is getting there, I think it's 8 days since roasting and it still hasn't hit the spot, hopefully when they get it it'll be right to go 🙂
galumay Just roasted my blend this morning, would have preferred to put a few days on it but as my roaster has been out of action that wasnt possible.
derrilex Hmmm now do I stick with my 2 bean blend or throw something else into the mix. Or do I do what KK is doing - 200 blend, 200 SO. Already roasted on the 28 th for the swap.
Ronin Well my victim client will have to wait a few days until I have time to roast. Actually I think I have something here from a few months ago, it'll be ok, right? :stir
Koffee_Kosmo It would be good practice to make a post to 1) inform us of the swap beans arrival & 2) take a photo of the beans by the receiver so we can all see Then a follow up post with Taste review ect Hope this agreeable to all KK
hazbean I thought this was a great idea first time around but due to being unwell couldn't participate. It is rather easy as a home roaster to just go tunnelling down your own path, things like this are good to get some perspective and new ideas. I've got my act together this time and signed up and sent off some beans yesterday afternoon. And looking forward to a small parcel in the letter box. The taste review is an excellent idea. I'm recruiting a small panel from the coffee nuts here at work to help out. Should be interesting.
beanflying I am all for some follow up and tasting (or lack of >😃) notes from the receiver of the beans. It is up to the sender at some stage if they wish to or not out themselves I guess. Aside from this I have just arranged to do a swap of some beans with a fairly new startup roaster in Melbourne too. Feedback from others (and being honest with yourself) will get you more along the way to being a better roaster than hiding and just drinking your own because YOU know it is better :🙂
Lacehim Just remember to put your comments etc when you get your beans in the new thread. http://www.bestcafes.com.au/forum/home-roasting-all-about-the-culture/july-bean-swap/?topicseen
