After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

  • It's so nice dealing with real pros. Went into Maroochy Car Sound today asking about equipment - love it when sales staff try to sort you out with best-fit regardless of price. I went in asking about Parrot Asteroid or the other add-on system. Instead, it looks like I'll be getting this: http://www.alpine.com.au/showItem.php?item_id=250 Which does everything I wanted and uses Parrot OEM gear for the bluetooth and is reasonably priced with the install.
  • The new headunit is installed, very professionally, by Maroochy Car Sound. I wasn't prepared for the improvement in sound quality with just a headunit upgrade, but there you go. The handsfree BT voice calling is very clear for both ends, a vast improvement on even my BT headset. One slight oddity with it is that while you can pair multiple phones to the headunit and get the headhunit to switch and connect to previously paired devices, the actual pairing seems a little flaky. For example, when my wife's phone was paired, I used the headunit to switch pairing to my own phone. The headunit said all the right things and my own phone's bluetooth status for the headunit device went from 'not connected' to 'connected'.... both devices agreed they were connected, but the Music app didn't recognise the connection at all. I had to click 'connected' manually and then it immediately started playing the music. Haven't had time to extensively test, but a bit annoying if that's the case as BT is buried a few menus deep.

Renting makes all the difference. Hell, even the TV is partly claimable - we use it for Skype conferences.
Yep, we claimed all of the 42 inch LCD as a monitor. Couldn't if it was a plasma because at the time the ATO were aware of screen image burn on the plasmas
