Totally agree! For once, it's not about the expense - it's a U.S. site so I don't know if I'd get it before Christmas! Ideally I'm looking around for somewhere locally I can get it. That site is almost ideal for our purposes in many respects too - they've got some great package deals.

It's apparently not possible to purchase that cable pre-made in Australia. Or at least, in Caloundra! ;D But I have acquired all the bits to re-create it in an even more useful fashion: Rather than sacrifice the power supply by permanently wiring it to the motor, I've decided to go for a plug-and-cable system similar to KK's design - which is superior for mobility, safety and replacement of parts. I've got two minor roadblocks at this stage:

I don't know which is the ground, high speed, low speed and (I assume) parking terminal
I don't have a soldering iron any more (and any skill died around the time Dick Smith stopped selling electronic kits) 😃

The motor will run both ways So there is no right or wrong way to connect it My units run anti clockwise I also did a similar thing with my original roaster where I used a cordless phone cradle KK

That's very clever. I like it a lot! Will this need to use the ground terminal? I only did it like this because I saw the plug on your KKTO. It makes for a safe, portable and compact design.

Today was fun, but a mixed bag in terms of overall success. Having a play on Lacehim's Lusso was a revelation. My next upgrade will be a lever. Watching the KKTO roast was great - such a simple process. Actually building the KKTO was enormously satisfying and hanging out with Lacehim made for a fun afternoon. However no actual beans managed to get roasted by my KKTO 🙁 The build went well, but there's an issue with the motor. Make sure the agitator rotates counter-clockwise or the agitator will be cupping the beans instead of agitating Looks nice so far and apart from a motor issue that is not your fault it should be up and running as soon as its sorted out :thumb: Most of the windscreen wiper motors rotate at 55/60 RPM KK

Thanks KK! Despite it not working yet, I'm really happy and excited about the project. I've got the plug that connects the powersupply to the motor configurable so I can switch which leads connect to which terminals. This should ensure that it can rotate in the correct direction.

Brand: Random cheap asian from a no-name LCD computer monitor. Power: 12v 4.16amp It's in good condition. Not sure about the motor, I'll have a look when I go downstairs.

I asked him to bring his soldering iron, multimeter and curiousity. It was a grounding problem - no issue with Michael's wiring at all. I need to get the drive shaft aligned properly, but after that we're good to go.

Ah there you go. You will have to show me what you fixes 🙂 Kelsey buy some new bolts too. I doubt those littles ones will be any good long term. Happy to help with anything. 🙂

KK - I've pretty much decided on my list (on tapatalk right now, so a bit hard to find and repeat), it's basically the BH/UNM blend plus the simpler MyCuppa blend. And a decaf. Looking forward to trying peanuts in there! Lacehim, it was both simple and obtuse! You know that ground wire that was attached to the motor? My BIL simply soldered the second lead onto that wire. Will definitely fix those bolts too! Christmas shopping today, then KKTO building!

What temp for peanuts? There's nothing like the distraction of christmas to get in the way of roasting and building projects ehh Kelsey? I have to deal with shopping traffic just to get to work so i leave half hour early so not to stress out. Any chance of more photos of your progress? Cheers, Gary at G

Peanuts roast best @ 160/170 deg Celsius for a slower roast but can go as high as 250 deg Celsius One day I want to try chestnuts KK

I'm going to try and get some more done tomorrow and will take more photos when I do. I've realised how critical the build of the stand is. We just knocked it up, but one really needs to ensure the everything is straight and aligned precisely - if the motor is on even a slight angle, the agitator blades 'wobble' within the pot.

Start with a new bit of wood for that motor, then alight it, mark it, and then drill the holes! Told you my woodwork was dodgy, but the rest should be fine. Trial and error with all these things. Post up a photo of your motor wiring, would love to see how ya fixed it.

Mine would have been worse!! I reckon the current one just needs a minor adjustment.
