My Coretto.

My Coretto never ceases to amaze me, I regularly roast 625 grams of green, decided to push the envelope this morning and upped the ante.

Roasted 185 grams each of,

Yemen Bani Ismail

Indian Monsoon Malabar

Guatamala Huehuetenango

Costa Rica San Isidro

For a batch total of 740 grams.

First crack @ 14 mins 195c

Stopped the roast @ 19 mins 230c

Nice even roast except for the MM which starts and finishes quite a bit lighter than the other 3.

I suspect the set up would handle 800 grams without any problem. ;D

Sounds like a great setup I only roasted 650g in my coretto mainly for conveyance never did try for a lager batch to late now I used the base and motor for my turbo :🙂 Cheers gra..

Must admit I'm a little surprised at the lack of interest in Coretto roasters on this forum, they certainly have a lot going for them. In the plus box, They are inexpensive. Easy to set up. Produce reliably consistent results (I've never had a failure) Pretty good capacity (I've roasted 740 grams in my single loaf Breville) Almost all of the chaff is removed by the action of the heat gun blower. Mechanically simple. Very reliable (been using mine weekly for about 18 months without a hiccup) Easy too use. In the minus box, Cant be used indoors (can get pretty smoky, I have mine set up to blow the chaff out of an elongated slot in the cover, I have a pedestal fan placed to blow the chaff out the shed door into the garden, nature takes care of the rest) They ain't pretty but the results far outweigh the ugly factor. And that's about it, I really see no reason to change too any thing different now or any time in the future 😉 I know this post is worthless without pic's will try to rectify soon. ;D

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the Coretto I wanted to make one, its just that my wife would not let me build one for various reasons & I had to invent another method (That topic has been written about before) I now use the bread-maker for baking fresh hot bread KK

The only reason I didn't build a Coretto after starting with the bowl and spoon is that I was lucky enough to score a secondhand Hottop for $600. For reliably roasting a good sized batch of beans for minimal outlay of $$ they can't be beat. As to lack of interest blame the KKTO I reckon, to many converts here 😉

My bread maker will never see bread making duty again, electronics ripped out, holes drilled for temp probe and a healthy build up of brown coffee grunge :🙂 As for bread, were lucky enough to have a couple of very good independent bakers in town so we take the easy way out. ;D

When I used my coretto roaster I always roasted in side the garage by setting up a chaff extractor work great... 😉 Cheers Gra..

Looks like a nice setup Gra, we're lucky enough to live in a semi rural setting, double shed door opens out onto the garden so the chaff is simply whisked away by the wind. I usually have an audience of Light Sussex chooks while I'm roasting. ;D
