Hi OE - long time, no hear from you! Yes, would be great to hear your perspective on things from London. When i lived there you could only get a good shot in about 2 cafes (in Soho Square); would be interesting to know if things have changed! -A

Hi everyone, Hope i did not take too long to get back to you, i was away in Birmingham doing a bit promotional work at the MPH show witch is a very expensive car show they run here <and got to meet the crew from top gear> along the way, Will be olso doing coffee tasting at the BBC good food show here in London next week . Anyway about the coffee here in London it has its up and downs, and really more downs this place is star bucks heaven and there are at least another 4 coffee chain stores, (Cafe Nero,Costas,Seattle,Amt and coffee republic) here that have flodded the market i will be sending photos soon ,forget about drinking their coffee apart from (AMT they try really hard)the rest are really no good at all but there are a small amount of coffee roasters that make quite a good presence ,like monmouth coffee and coffee plant ,their coffee blends are quite good and their barista,s show quite good knowledge and presentation. There are quite a few Australian and New Zealand residents

Hi everyone ,well its getting cold here in London but things are about to warm up soon. The movie Black Gold starts here soon but i went for a early showing on tuesday, (for us people in the industry) and i noticed a thread on Star Bucks on this site ,as if they are not hated enought in the industry (now they have not only two very keen directors giving them a good kick) but olso Nestle andDouwe Egberts get mentioned . Its going to be a hard new year at the top for these companies as not only they have each other to worry about,but soon they will have a lot of people againt their actions in Ethiopia. Hi OE - yes, Black Gold has screened here at a couple of organised sessions in Sydney & Melbourne; not sure if it's going to be a general release movie, but know that it's going to be released as a DVD in the New Year. Feel free to use this thread as a bit of a personal 'blog' of your [coffee]experiences in London... although if you do you'll have to make sure you make regular posts!! -A

Hi you all sorry but i had some pc problems 😡 , and i had to go away for a few days as well so here iam back on .. Yes they do not have much idea as what is a good espresso here because not many people have them. I hate the way they call a long black an Americano ,why why why ,i decided that i will do everything in my super Barista power to change it. Ifound this on a web site so you all can have a read hope iam not breaking any rules by posting this here so if i do break them Sorry :-X Lavazza has been the first

Hi all,yes Admin i have been to Flat white many times ,its a busy place i hear doing around 60 kilos a week and using monmouth coffee witch is a london based coffee roaster, but they double shot all the coffee served as far as i know. They make sure that they take as much as possible out of their coffee because it is quite extracted ,but on many occations the coffee has been different in flavour i have tried the whole lot and the long blacks are quite over powering ,quite smokey... Apart from this the place is allways busy its in a fantastic location with many companies in the film industry near by and its sort of a hang out for these people. The staff are very nice and try very hard to please you, and make sure that you get a good coffee ,and its good to talk about things back home with them. Flat white is a great place, the coffee is good you can get vegemite on toast and the staff is super,sound like a great place to visit once your coffee craving sink in or as a jet lag cure...... People here have Coffee or tea in the morning and after 11 they either do the same or have soft drinks. They usually have alcohol in the afternoon. I have a friend going to Aukland later this month any suggestions on a good coffee place there ,he knows what he is drinking so only good ones please. Thank you all. See Ya OE ;D

for Auckland Cenral: Centre of Gravity- Basement old public trust blding, 11Mayoral Drive on corner of Wellesly st. It is the showcase cafe and training centre for Gravity Coffee (not the same as the Australian Gravity) and my last roasting work. Brazil - K'Road cnr Upper queen st, across from a starbucks these guys are the definition of cool coffee. Roast their own and have a lever machine. They really know how to use it well and do a great job. I hear there is a great cafe on High street opened or owned by a well known Kiwi barista that does a great job too. the name escapes me for now though sorry. For North Shore: Cant go past the Altura Coffee Roasters in Albany, out of the way but great coffee.

By the way i hear star bucks plan to open a new store in.London at the rate of one every fortnight ,so says a press report here . Wow looks like the action is really hot because today i saw a coffee republic close down http://www.coffeerepublic.co.uk/ you dont see these close down often . Today olso i was walking down this street in soho and i saw this small building with a sign outside that said International coffee organisation, so i went inside and there was a group of peolpe that were having a meeting to discuss the price of raw coffee in this country ,hows that a few peole can actually have a say in what we trade ,i really have to see what goes on in there so iam making some time to visit their info office and have a chat. www.ico.org
