I could have sent an email to Brendon but I think our members here deserve to know what and why is going on.
I have enjoyed buying beans from Beangreen for some time now and have roasted great coffee using great products and would like to like to stay as a loyal customer.
However, going from $50 to $75 and then to $150 minimum spend for free freight is one concern, the other is the two stage price rises also for some of the green bean offerings.
Understandably the freight charges went up and the world prices for beans likewise.
Only seems like yesterday I was paying $13.00 a kg for Colombian Hacienda but I had no choice but to order the 30 kg starter pack a while ago since I am roasting for friends and the restaurant. Today we are paying $17 for the same Colombian.
Perhaps Brendan can shed some light.

Hi guys,
Myself and the great Manna Beans over on the southside of Brisbane have launched a little project this week.
We have created a new brewing devise called the BREWOVER.
The main reason behind this was because i wanted a bigger manual pourover brewing method. Something bigger than a Chemex and Simon wanted to create a more compact method for cold drip and cold brew coffee. So we incorporated the 2. It has taken us about a year and 6 prototypes to get to the final product and are so happy with the final results. More importantly the brewing results are exceptional.
We have launched the BREWOVER on kickstarter (a crowd funding website)and would love the support of the whole Australia Coffee industry to kick this project off. We have offered a very good deal the pre-purchasing the product.
Please check it out on www.Brewover.com or www.brewover.com.au and the link to www.kickstarter.com is on the website. it has been up for 2 days and the support has been great.
We would really appropriate the support to get this Australian made and designed project off the ground.
Cheers Brendan from BeanGreen.
I was going to add to the 2012 thread but the message board suggested a new topic....

Ordered 25 kg of beans on 01/06/14, left Bean Green on 02/06/14 and went missing somewhere between Brisbane and Sydney.

Left a voicemail with Brendan Friday afternoon 13th that we haven't seen anything, he responds withing 20 minutes regarding this, email from him on SATURDAY!!!! 14th that he has them on the case and if nothing happens he will resend the order....

Original order turns up this afternoon 1pm.

Brendan is full of apologies for something that he has no control over (which I told him).

Cremas, if you are buying beans I feel the need to point you in this direction. Great man, great service and deserves our business.
I took a dive and ordered 5 kg of the green bean specials in addition to the usual 20 kg.
Not sure if I will get random kilos of single origins or pre-blended..

I would presume the wholesale specials refers to say, 5 kg of single origin leftovers from a 60 kg bag?

Sorry everyone, we couldn't continue with our free freight for orders over $50. Courier's charges have been going up and up of late. We have had to bump the free freight minimum to $75 with a delivery fee of $10 for orders under $75. Still a great deal we think.
On other news our warehouse in Everton Park is open for pick ups and the long overdue upgrade on our website is nearly complete!!! Thanks for hanging in there so long!

Last month I was lucky enough to be invited to be on the international jury for Rwanda's fifth Cup of Excellence competition. It is a great representing Australia but also to be the first ever cupper selected from Queensland for any COE event, was a real honour. After trying some beautiful Rwanda red bourbons over the last couple of years(all of Rwanda's coffees are of the red bourbon variety) and hearing of the massive changes that have occurred in the country after the horrible genocide in 1994, I was very keen to attend. 160 coffees were entered from 120 of the 200 washing stations that are spread across Rwanda. in most COE competitions, coffees are entered from mainly single estates or farms. In Rwanda there is no large estates or farms with the biggest coffee growing farm only six hectares in area. All local coffee growers or 'small holders' sell their cherry to the washing station nearest to them. The washing stations pulp the cherry and ferment then dry on raised beds. The washing stations enter the competition and enter particular day lots that they think have been well grown and that they have processed well. Most of the lots entered contain coffee from one up to twenty farms.
Each COE competition has a national jury that cups and scores all coffees twice and narrows all entrants down to the top 60. The international jury then cups all of the top 60 and scores out of 100. Any coffee that scores over 85 or more, gains COE certification and goes into the international online auction. High prices are paid for these coffees. With the washing stations splitting the money evenly between the farmers that coffee made up the entered lots. I arrived on the 28th. The international jury week began on the 29th.

Day 1

Arrived in the capital Kigali very early in the morning. Myself and a couple of of other jury members were taken to the Stipp hotel to relax until the other members arrived. We then Drove to Kayazonga town in eastern Provence for cocktail party. We were entertained by local dancers and served warm beer which to my disappointment is the norm and there were no cocktails. Afterwards we arrived at the Dereva Hotel for the night. No hot water or Internet but a clean bed.
Check out the rest of the action on our website at : http://www.beangreen.com.au/info.php?id=163
